Junior livestock show concludes with auction

The sale of champions will conclude the 2024 Wood County Junior Livestock Show this week.

The sale starts at 6 p.m. Friday at the Quitman ag facility off FM 2088 on the north end of the high school/junior high campus.

Events kicked off Tuesday with the broiler, rabbit and ag mechanics shows, followed by lambs, goats, dairy heifers and pigs on Wednesday.

The Thursday schedule includes the breeding animal classes at 8 a.m., commercial heifers at 6 p.m. and the steer show at 7.

Fridays contests include floral at 8 a.m., livestock judging at 9, baked goods and photography at 10 and the public speaking contest at 10:30.

The sale concludes the day and the week at 6 p.m.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
